IUCN - PACO: Mayombe project has its coordinator

 

The International Union for Conservation of Nature recruited Mr Agostinho Chicaia as IUCN Mayombe Project Coordinator. Of Angolan nationality, he worked as an agricultural engineer at the Institute of Agrarian Development, Ministry of Agriculture where he became Director of EDA Belize and Cabinda, a state institution in charge of agricultural development in Angola. Alongside his job, he coordinates several projects and has an extensive experience in working with civil society and oil industries. He is researcher and author of numerous environmental publications. The most recent, publication was in May 2009, "The True Cost of Chevron". Mr Agostinho is based now in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo and took office on 1 December 2009 and will facilitate the Mayombe project in collaboration with all partners.
